Many people owe money and sometimes they may find it difficult to deal with their debts. There are a number of things you can do including:

• Coming to an informal arrangement with your creditors
• Setting up a debt management plan
• Entering a debt payment programme through the Debt Arrangement Scheme
• Signing a trust deed
• Applying for your bankruptcy.

The Accountant in Bankruptcy cannot give you advice on what you should do but you can get free and impartial advice from Money Advice Scotland or Citizens Advice Scotland.
