Public Contracts Scotland portal now live

Over the past couple of years there has been a huge change in the role of Procurement in the Scottish Government. AiB have a part to play in how we procure effectively and efficiently and fairly to meet the standards expected by the SG and ultimately the Public.
To assist in the process of procurement and meet our obligations to treat all Suppliers openly and fairly regardless of size, AiB are glad to announce that the new National advertising Portal known as Public Contracts Scotland, is now live. It went into the Public Domain on Friday 18 July 2008 and has been widely received.
The portal gives free access to contract opportunities in Scotland. All current and potential suppliers can find details of contracts with Scottish local Authorities, NHS Scotland, the Scottish Government, Agencies and NDPB's, Higher and Further Education and Emergency Services by simply browsing the available contracts. Suppliers can also register to receive free e-mail alerts when new contract opportunities are loaded to the portal by a Contracting Authority e.g. AiB.
As one of the first phase organisations expected to load new contract opportunities, AiB will hopefully be using the new portal in the next couple of months to advertise our opportunities, relating to various commodities.
During this time we will endeavour to make as many suppliers aware of this portal as possible, and this article is a step in that direction. There will also, in the future, be more local promotion event, driven by the SG, to again ensure that as many suppliers as possible are aware of the portal and register.
