New Corporate Insolvency Section

   1 October 2009

Accountant in Bankruptcy's (AiB) website has been developed to now offer a centralised source of information on corporate insolvency.

The addition of this new section is hoped to provide insolvency practitioners, corporate debt advisors, and members of the public, with easy access to information on legislation and procedures, along with direct access to Scottish forms relating to corporate insolvency.

Corporate insolvency is a shared responsibility between the UK Government and the Scottish Government (SG), with the SG's devolved elements falling to AiB. As well as having full responsibility for the administration and policy development of personal bankruptcy in Scotland, the Agency's corporate insolvency responsibilities include:

  • administration of liquidation cases in Scotland;
  • development of policy specific to our administrative duties for liquidation; and
  • development of policy on receivership.

The following areas of Corporate Insolvency are still reserved matters and legislated by central government in Westminster, and therefore not the responsibilty of AiB:

  • Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs); and
  • Administration.

AiB believe that these latest developments to AiB's website reflect a commitment to providing access to information and the best service possible, as well as being responsive to the needs of stakeholders and insolvency practitioners.
