The register of insolvencies is a statutory register about the insolvency of individuals and businesses in Scotland.

Debtor application packs are available from the Accountant in Bankruptcy and money advisers.

Debtor application pack

To apply for your own bankruptcy you must use the correct application pack. The debtor application pack comes in three different versions, depending on your circumstances.

Instructions for completing applications are included with each pack.

It is essential that the pack is fully completed.

Fee

It will cost you £100 to apply for your bankruptcy, there are no waivers or exemptions for this fee. It is non-refundable. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, debit card, or postal order.

  • post - do not send cash by post
  • in person
  • at a bank

Nomination of trustee

The Accountant in Bankruptcy will be your trustee unless you choose to nominate an insolvency practitioner to act. The insolvency practitioner must consent to your nomination by completing the appropriate form contained within the pack. This must be returned with your application pack.
