Protected Trust Deeds consultation: improving the process
4 January 2012The Scottish Government consultation on the future of Protected Trust Deeds (PTDs) has been ongoing since 17 October 2011 and will run until 31 January 2012. During the course of its work, the Protected Trust Deed Working Group (PTDWG) agreed that there was scope for improvement to the PTD process and in its Final Report published in June 2010, made several recommendations.
The purpose of the consultation is to seek views from stakeholders on those recommendations which are intended to:
- make the current trust deed process more efficient
- ensure the process is fit for purpose
- ensure that it strikes the best balance between the needs of debtors and the rights of creditors
You can access the consultation here. All responses will be considered following the closing date of 31 January 2012.
We aim to issue a report on this consultation shortly after it closes. The report will be posted on both the Scottish Government and AiB websites.
