This guidance describes the general functions of Accountant in Bankruptcy, interim trustees, trustees and commissioners in relation to their responsibilities regarding bankruptcies which started on or after 30 November 2016.

7.11 Criminal injuries compensation

Section 7(2) of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Act 1995 states an award made under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme to a debtor shall not vest in the trustee.

However, a trustee can arrange a Debtor Contribution Order under section 90 of the Act (see section 8).
